The 3 "P's"!

April 11, 2019

I was going through old notes on my phone and came across this note to myself.  From what seemed to be a bad time when I was feeling overwhelmed, out of control and crazed.  Not one plan went well.

  • Mini-breakup with long time friend due to hard times in her life, her overwhelming dependency and general conflict.

  • Hair dye allergy lands me in hospital.

  • Had to take prednisone which made me crazy, moody, anxious, depressed, impatient and angry. (note to self, never take prednisone again)!

  • Church camp weekend (as a leader) filled with chaos & disrespectful girls -To then bring upon conflict and aggressive texts and email with parent and pastor.

  • Sold purse on EBay to scam artist, mistakenly shipped it out before payment & USPS nightmare to get it back.

  • Crazy reaction to all of it since going off Lexapro.

  • Broke screen on IPhone before vacation.

  • Daughter came home with head lice.

  • Other daughter became overly sensitive to sunburn, went a tad cray, cray.

The date on this was May 2, 2016.

And I assure you there have been many more within these past 3 years!

To a planner like me, the disarray of my "well planned out life" or "unexpected life occurrences" can throw a planner into a frenzy.

I've had to learn to follow the following 3 mental life hacks in order to stay semi sane and become more of a "go with the flow" kind of girl:

  1. Plan  Yep, I'm sticking with this.  But hear me out, there is room for the unexpected.  Still you have to always (or at least) have a well laid out plan for days, events, trips, your future.  It helps you stay focused and organized.  For example, if you travel, you have to make arrangements (plans) or there is no travel.  There has to at least be some kind of plan; drive, plane, train, bus.  How to pack according to climate.  Are you staying in a hotel or friends house?  Will you need a rental car, uber or getting picked up from hotel transport?  And so on!

  2. Prepare  For when the plan goes wayside.  Because it sometimes will.  Reality; Some. things. go. wrong.  So have a back-up, insurance, safety net, extra pocket money, friends to contact for help!  I hope you get the picture. And I will throw this in:

Ephesians 6:10-18 (NIV)

The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

  1. Patience Because you are not ultimately in control! God, in accordance with human life, nature or weather may throw a curve ball.  Relax at the airport during delays (nine times out of ten its for your safety).  A meeting can always be rescheduled (or Skyped).  Your kids are well cared for, even amidst your perfectly planned out world for them!  They don't need 24 hours of your attention, the picture perfect Fakebook/Instagram post, they don't need to obtain every worlds created milestone, tradition, activity or your blood, sweat and tears.  You are not a superwomen!  You are imperfect beautiful human created in the image of God.  But, you are not God.  So stop fooling yourself and relax in him.  And finally, your time "being still" is most likely God growing you.  And that, my friend is a beautiful thing!

Admittedly, these are not easy.  The "not knowing" can be frustrating.  What the next minute, hour, day, year will look-like can be nerve wracking?!  What crisis, illness, break-up, tragedy is lurking (along with crappy satan) can cause anxiety!

With every effort put forth, or every fervent prayer, a good intended plan or dream may not be a part of your story.

But God's got you! His plans ARE set in stone and able to weave around your circumstances.  It may be, you need to start your adventures, your days; minute after minute after minute, with God.

His word speaks volumes and thousands of years ago, he planned for you!

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” – Proverbs 16:9 NIV

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It has no fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” – Jeremiah 17:7-8 NIV

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.'”  – Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

~Lord, take may day and use it as you will.  Whatever may happen, I choose you and am secure in the knowledge you will set my paths straight!
