Spiritual Cancer!

Why not follow Jesus Christ! Because it's not P.C.?

A question I ponder more and more as I walk with Christ.

We are called as believers to share the good news, encourage the hopeless,

Mark 16:15 NIV
“And He said to them, ‘Go into the world and preach the gospel to all creation."

Yet we easily feed our mind, body & spirit with Junk food. We are a feel good people and junk is easy and cheap.

Every day we wake up to bad news. People making bad choices. People adhering to the ways of the world. People looking for love in all the wrong places. People who are tremendously lonely, hurting, suffering. I can generalize this because I believe every reader here knows exactly what I am talking about. But when proposed a solution to !life's problems by becoming a follower of Christ, non-believers start to become "researchers" perpetuating thoughts of doubt and disbelief"! Holding bad humans of unjust faith accountable for a lack of willingness to trust the bible and God! Besides, it's not politically correct to be a Jesus lovin' human and quite frankly, not cool!

If I were to share on social media that I have been chosen to be the next "American Idol", or I got a part in a major motion picture with an "Academy Award Nod", or maybe, I will be featured on the next "Dancing with the Stars", I assure you, the praise and recognition would be out of control. I guarantee it would go viral and people would hold such regard for me as "making it to the top" and "how lucky and successful" I've become! People would be talking to me. People would want to know me. Heck, they might want to be me!

But if I declare: I have found Jesus and am committed to following him for the rest of my life, some might say "good for you" and a few will be thrilled (quietly and incognito as it is not PC to be a Jesus follower). Others might think, what's wrong with her? What horrific thing did she do for the need to become "born again" in order to mask her pain? People may start to avoid me because I am a Jesus freak and really weird.

It is really a conundrum of sorts. How our society perceives people. Or should I say, judge, disrespect, deny people because of their Faith!

I'm more and more aware of this perception because I talk about Jesus on social media all the time. And those few sisters and brothers in Christ who "like" my posts are few and far between. But when I share pictures of my pets, family, or any kind of "secular" funny, life stance, opinion piece, success, my "likes" are in the high double digits. And birthdays, illnesses or milestones?......those are in the hundreds. Which is all good and endearing, but (in my opinion) misguided. And if you really want to start a war with "likes vs. unlike's", talk politics.

The late, great Billy Graham started the Godly conversation decades ago. Proclaiming the word of God is real, making his life mission to share the Good News and be a vessel to God in saving souls. A spiritual oncologist, if you will!

And although some have listened, we are still lacking in a full following of biblical truth.

Here are 2 of my favorite quotes from him:

"When wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost; when character is lost, all is lost." ~Billy Graham

"Every human being is under construction from conception to death. " ~Billy Graham

I believe every human is flawed/broken and as Billy quotes, "under construction". I value good character among any character trait. It clearly is a defining factor of a prosperous soul. Wealth, success, leadership?, are all good but if your character is constantly in shambles without any attempt to build it to a level of goodness, then you lose me. True prosperity is not in things and titles, it's in a healthy mind, body and SPIRIT!

But still, we are a world of many "unbelievers"! Men and women looking to each-other for answers and hope. And this one boggles me the most, looking/praying to the universe for answers. Last time I checked, the tree in my backyard is good for birds-nests, summer shade and stunning maple leaves in the fall. It is a lovely tree, but it can't guide me to true salvation or bring hope during difficult seasons. It's just a tree. It's not God! But I digress!

I love this interview:

I also love when Kathie says "I'm not talking about a religion, I am talking about a relationship with the living God!"

Yes they are sooooo different. We don't need more religion. and YES, we need more JESUS!!!!!

But this "Good News" put in a nonliterary phrase, "I have found the cure for cancer and want to share that with everyone", still doesn't seem to be enough.

Why? Well, understand. We were warned. By the living God himself.

Colossians 2:8 ESV
See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.
God knew that the world would interfere. The world would try to device it's own version of his truth. That the world would fall privy to the 7 deadly sins because they would feel better sinning than worshiping him. Remember, we are a feel good people. And the secular narrative is it doesn't feel good to go to church, live like Jesus lived and follow the laws of the bible. Sex, drugs & sin are more fun! Or are they?
We have all sinned on a few or all of these. I have!
Galatians 5:19-21 ESV
Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

ENTER the Hope! (whom I like to refer to as Jesus)
Galatians 5:22-26 NIV

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Self-control! Now there is a big one. Why do we overeat? Lack of self control. Why is there sexual promiscuity? Lack of self control. Anger?, Greed? You get the picture.

We are human, flawed, broken and naturally adhere to the ways of the word. God knew we would have these internal drives. And although he gave us free will to make good choices, he knew we would ultimately be knuckleheads and need a book, a savior, a good friend; an internal loving relationship with his son to steer us in the right direction and absolute truth. A holy spirit to be planted within us to give us hope, peace, joy, love & veer us away from sin. And as death no longer has it's sting (in other words, it's not a bad thing), he gives us a promise of eternal life. He gives us self-control.

These godly gifts are all available to us through committing our lives to Jesus. And when you pursue this dedication, the cancer cells within our souls start to whither away and spiritual cancer is ultimately cured by Christ, Jesus.

I know this, as I am a testimony!

So back to my first question? Why not follow Jesus Christ? What do you have to lose? Control? or Maybe you can rid that Spiritual Cancer that have been overtaking your life?

Or maybe you can have this...........................

Isaiah 40:29

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Or this,

Isaiah 40:31

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Or this,

Jeremiah 29:11

'For I know the plans I have for you', declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Or this,

Deuteronomy 31:8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

Or this,

Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Or this,

Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Or this,

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Read your Bible! And send me a note to pray for you if you need prayer to connect to Christ!
