Control Less, Pray More!

I came across this quote and thought wow, sometimes we do feel out of control?

If God is in control, I should be in control of my reactions right? Easier said than done. Especially during a difficult season of life, or even bigger, a political climate that hits the hearts of many, causing deep turmoil.

When you think of the disparity that's going on in our country, our world, good basic human behavior is deteriorating. Or at least it seems to be drifting farther away from any form of integrity or healthy "world view".

You should be made aware that it's all leading right into the hands of Satan himself. Fulfilling his most enticing dreams for our existence; that of total destruction! I say this a lot during times of conflict, intolerance and hurtful bantering that I either foolishly participate in or witness; Satan is having a field day with this!

With this overwhelming strife and opposition in politics, religion, culture, one would think (or even hope) our perspective would inevitably change. Good and Bad has been made apparent in this world. Just watch a Marvel movie. We know the difference. We see the results. We have the options laid before us. The choice is ours.

I have learned a few things in the few decades God has blessed me on this earth. Yet a true unfortunate reality of human nature:

  1. Common Sense is not a natural gift and you either have it or you don't.

  2. Wisdom is available to all, but only a select few have or will ever attempt to reaps its rewards.

  3. Ignorance is bliss because some are simply unwilling to seek knowledge; therefore they stay in a dangerous "comfort zone".

  4. Emotions should be used as data only, not driving forces for decisions, opinions or actions. God should always be your driving force.

  5. Its not what happens to you in life, "it truly is" how you handle it.

God is in control! He offers us tons and tons of promises that he will forever guide, protect and love us. The only caveat is we need to look to him by loving his son, Jesus Christ.

Yet he also gave us "Free Will", which can be a double edge sword.

  • God gives us the independence to make good choices; Free Will gives us freedom to make bad ones.

  • God urges us to take advantage of his insurance policy of love and protection; Free Will allows us to shift to a selfish disposition which causes destruction in our personal and professional lives.

  • God gives us his word, access to deep (tried and true) knowledge with instructional life applications on how to live an abundant life; Free Will gives us the chance to listen and follow the secular world and their self-centered perspective.

By keeping the words below at heart, we need be reminded that we are not of this world, only passing through it. That with trust in Gods knowledge and purpose, the hope is, it will begin to diminish our fears. Since we don't have the ultimate control to decide the inevitable anyway.

The GOOD NEWS? With prayer and petition, we do have control.

Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, with prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

We DO have the opportunity to follow Jesus Christ. Obtaining many gifts that God showers into ours lives each and every waking moment. Gifts of Faith, Hope and Love that are intangible, yet priceless!

Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

My heart prays that with this little insight, most will sleep better tonight.
